Athletic Participation Information

The information below is important for our parents and athletes to utilize for successful participation in athletics at Lynhurst 7th & 8th Grade Center.

2023 Fall Sports Starting Dates

Football

Football Equipment passed out ONLY on July 27 from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m.

First Practice for 7th & 8th grade is July 28 from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m.

Final day to join Football is August 4

Cross Country Boys & Girls

First practice for boys and girls in grades 5-8 is August 2 from 4:30 – 5:45 p.m.

Final day to join Cross Country is August 4

Soccer Boys & Girls

Tryouts for boys and girls is July 31 and August 1 from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m.

Girls Volleyball

Tryouts for girls 7th & 8th grade is July 31 and August 1 from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m.

Boys Tennis

First practice for boys tennis grades 5-8 is August 2 from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m.

Final day to join boys tennis is August 4

Girls Golf

Golf meeting is TBD at Chapel Hill

Fall Cheerleading (Football)

Clinic Dates are May 15 & 16 from 4:30 – 5:45 p.m.

All students interested in trying out should attend clinic dates

Tryouts are May 18 from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m.

2023-24 Winter Sports Starting Dates

Boys Basketball

Tryouts for 7th & 8th grade are October 2 and 3 from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m.

Girls Basketball

Tryouts for 7th & 8th grade are November 30 and December 1 from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m.

Wrestling

Practice for grades 5-8 begins November 27 from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m.

Final day to join wrestling is December 8

Swimming & Diving Boys and Girls

Practice for grades 5-8 begins December 18 from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. at Ben Davis High School

Final day to join swimming & diving is December 22

Winter Cheerleading (Basketball)

Call out meeting July 31 and August 1 at 6:00 p.m.

2024 Spring Sports Starting Dates

Track & Field Boys & Girls

Practice for boys and girls grades 5-8 March 4 from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m.

Final day to join track & field is March 10

Softball

Tryouts for 7th & 8th grade combined are March 4 and 5 from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m.

Baseball

Tryouts for 7th & 8th grade combined are March 4 and 5 from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m.

Girls Tennis

Practice for girls tennis grades 5-8 March 6 from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m.

Boys Golf

Golf meeting is TBD at Chapel Hill

Financial Obligations

All students are to provide practice gear appropriate for their sport. Shorts/pants, t-shirt, shoes/cleats, knee pads, shin guards and other items are the responsibility of the student athlete.

Football

7th Graders or First Time Players – Total Cost $100

Returning 8th Grader: No Equipment $100

Returning 8th Grader: Has Practice Jersey $80

Returning 8th Grader: Has Practice Pants $80

Returning 8th Grader: Has Practice Jersey and Pants $60

This fee includes the transportation, practice shirt, reconditioning of equipment, and mouthpiece.

*School provides shoulder pads, helmet and game uniform.

Cheerleading

Girls purchase most items: Warm-up and accessories

School provides: Game uniform

Cost: Info at parent meeting

Tennis

School provides: tennis balls and match uniform t-shirt (student get to keep)

Total cost: $25 (Transportation) + $20 + $30 = $80

Girls Volleyball

School provides: game uniform (jersey)

Total cost: $25 (Transportation)+ $20 =$45*

*other fees will be added for game spandex, socks & team t-shirt

Golf

School provides: match polo, t-shirt, and a sleeve of golf balls

Total cost: $25 (Transportation) + $30 =$55*

Cross Country

School provides: meet uniform (jersey/shorts)

Total cost: $25 (Transportation)+ $20 =$45*

*other fees will be added for team t-shirt

Girls Basketball

School provides: game uniform

Total cost: $25 (Transportation)+ $20 =$45*

*other fees will be added for shooting shirt

Boys Basketball

School provides: game uniform

Total cost: $25 (Transportation) + $20 =$45*

*other fees will be added for shooting shirt

Wrestling

School provides: match uniform (singlet) & headgear

Total cost: $25 (Transportation) + $20 =$45*

*other fees will be added for team sweats

Swimming & Diving

Student provides practice swim suit, googles & swim cap

Total Cost: $25 (Transportation)+ $20= $45*

*other fees will be added for team t-shirt

Track & Field

School provides: uniform (jersey/shorts)

Total cost: $25 (Transportation)+ $20 =$45*

*other fees will be added for team sweats

Softball

School provides: uniform (jersey top)

Total cost: $25 (Transportation) + $20 =$45*

*other fees will be added for uniform pants/belt & socks

Baseball

School provides: uniform (jersey top), team hat, belt, and hoodie

Total cost: $25 (Transportation)+ $20 =$45*

NOTE: *Sport fees may be subject to a small change.

All sports fees go directly to the students & sports only. Gate money is collected to help with costs of officials & event staff.
